Engaging Our Community for the Common Good

Clear Vision Eau Claire is a county-wide initiative to develop a collaborative vision for Eau Claire. Our mission is to engage all citizens to reach a common goal and purpose.

Starting the discussion

Effective democracy begins with a conversation among citizens about the kind of community we want. Clear Vision aims to increase effective governance by promoting greater civic participation and collaboration.

Our role is not to replace the formal decision-making and budgeting processes of local governments and organizations, but to provide them with the voice of the collective whole.

Original Stakeholders were recruited that reflected the ethnic, geographic, age, gender, and occupational diversity of the greater community and included members of local not-for-profit community organizations, faith based groups, environmental and housing activists, health care providers, business groups, neighborhood associations, students, retirees, and local government officials and staff. The stakeholders represented a wide range of viewpoints and interests. They debated, disagreed, agreed, and worked toward common shared goals in developing a final report that identifies priorities and strategic actions that have the potential to dramatically impact the rate and direction of community change and effectiveness in six key areas:

• Education
• Health care
• Transportation
• Economic development
• Quality of life
• Civic engagement

An Implementation Committee was formed and continues to meet to oversee and support the implementation process. Many workgroups and sub-committees are actively engaged in moving the plan forward.
