Clear Vision Eau Claire to announce major new downtown development project
Clear Vision Eau Claire will announce on Tuesday, May 15 a public-private partnership that intends to construct a transformative urban project that includes a new community arts center, university student housing and commercial retail complex in downtown Eau Claire. The announcement will be at noon in the Eau Claire River Room at the RCU Corporate Center at 200 Riverfront Terrace in downtown Eau Claire.
Since October 2007, hundreds of people have participated in the Clear Vision Eau Claire process to help our community reach a common goal and purpose. The Clear Vision final report issued in July 2008 identified the need for new or improved community events facilities.
In June 2009, a Community Events Facilities Committee was formed to further explore the issue. Utilizing the Center for Democracy and Citizenship concept and philosophy of public work, the committee engaged in hundreds of discussions with local citizens and visitors about their ideas for community events facilities in Eau Claire. Those discussions culminated in two high-profile Clear Vision community forums held March 29 and April 25.
